Letter to the Editor
Baseball player correct in not showing bad behavior

This letter is in response to Joshua Rhett Miller's column in yesterday's Collegian on the events that occurred between Mike Piazza and Roger Clemens in Game 2 of the World Series. You are comparing the events of a baseball game to some sort of Darwinian evolution. You cannot label a man meek simply because he refuses to start a fight in a key game such as this. Roger Clemens already used underhanded tactics to eliminate Piazza from the last series with the Yankees. You could actually say that Piazza was very smart for not lowering himself to the level of Clemens' game. Your entire perception of professional sports is distorted if you believe blatant acts of disregard should be tolerated for the supposed "mental edge" gained. The World Series is about hits, runs and heroes, not outrageous media concoctions, so end all the hype, and play ball.
