In addition to the usual Heim Entertainment staff, MBNA employees will volunteer at the event. Heim Entertainment was reluctant to release actual details about the event, but was quick to state MBNA was providing them with a lot of help.
"They're going to be sending us about three volunteers a night," Lesch said. "(The volunteers) are doing a great deal of work."
The staff has said the event will "be full of costumes, elaborate decorations and holiday fun ... it will provide a unique and enjoyable experience for all ages."
The employees are keeping details under wraps in an attempt to make the actual event that much scarier and surprising.
A portion of the proceeds are going to charity, with 20 percent of all earnings from the haunted house donated to The Second Mile, a children's charity founded by former Penn State coach Jerry Sandusky in 1977. The charity provides housing for foster children, as well as summer camps and scholarship opportunities. Since retiring last year, Sandusky has dedicated himself to the program.
Heim Entertainment approached Sandusky with the idea of the haunted house. "We've really been impressed with the great work that he's done in the community, especially since he's retired ... he's given so much. It's really remarkable," Lesch said.
Going along with the charity spirit, the haunted house opened its doors last night for the children from The Second Mile. They were able to attend the event for free.
Heim Entertainment is expecting a fairly large crowd.
"We're hoping that we'll be able to give a lot back," Lesch said.
Heim Entertainment Inc. was started last fall by former Penn State student Jessica Heim, along with her husband John. Although they hosted "haunted" laser tag at Dungeon Duel Laser Tag last year, this is the first time they have had a real haunted house at the facility.
In addition to the experience of the haunted house, all guests will receive a free laser tag game coupon for Dungeon Dual Laser Tag once it re-opens on Nov. 1.
Doors will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight every night, and the cost is $8 per ticket.
