It's not a good time to graduate from Penn State. We attend a school that is fast gaining a reputation for disturbingly loutish behavior. Multiple riots, sexual assaults and racist letters sent to students and faculty . . . We are Penn State. I'm not saying I'm a saint here, but I do believe in treating individuals with a certain level of respect. That respect is what is generally considered the basis for a community. Penn State is fast approaching anarchy. Perhaps it's not surprising considering the attitude expressed by Penn State Police Supervisor Stewart Neff in Wednesday's Collegian. Expressing his belief that there isn't a disturbing trend at work, Neff stated, "Little things are brought to our attention that perhaps at other times might not have been reported." Maybe Officer Neff will buckle down once we have a mail bomb or a few more assaults. Given the current circumstances on campus I'm reminded of what one Penn State alum told me upon hearing I would be spending time in Central Pennsylvania: There's a whole lot of Mississippi between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.
