Today's University Park forecast
sun. A drastic change in the weather can be expected in Happy Valley over the next couple of days as cold Candian air filters in behind the cold front. Cold winds blowing over the relatively warm waters of Lake Erie will bring the possibility of showers and even a few flakes of snow over Fall Break. Temperatures will begin to moderate on Tuesday as high pressure builds to our south.

Highlight

Brace for costly heating fuel prices this winter. Even though the Mid-Atlantic region felt an 11% drop in energy demand last winter due to above normal temperatures, nationally, Americans spent 55% more than the 1998-99 season. The U.S. department of Energy is already warning of depleted oil and natural gas inventories. Plus, a colder winter is expected.

Fall Foliage Report

Only patchy fall foliage can be seen in northern Pennsylvania, with the colors of the leaves changing very little or not all all. In the western, central, and southeastern regions of the state, there is no fall foliage occuring yet.
