'Wildlife' book good read for outdoor, nature types

Central Pennsylvania author Charles Fergus' newest book is called Wildlife of Pennsylvania. Fergus authored the popular "Thornapples" column in the Pennsylvania Game News for years and has written several books on nature and the outdoors.

His newest effort features narratives on more than 300 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians native to Pennsylvania. He bases his writing on current research and writes to capture the reader's interest. Fergus writes obscure facts about animals, noting that raccoons are curious, intelligent and have good memories.

High quality drawings by Amelia Hansen the animals described in the book highlight its pages. If you're interested in wild animals and nature, and especially about ones that are found in this state, this is the book for you.
