A local news writer and newsmaker are getting married.

Former Penn State President Bryce Jordan is engaged to Centre Daily Times reporter Barbara Brueggebors, the newspaper reported yesterday.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 28 in Austin, Texas, where the couple will live, the CDT said.

Jordan, who was president of Penn State from 1983 to 1990, now lives in Texas.

Brueggebors has been at the CDT for 25 years and is one of the paper's senior staff members. She and Jordan said they plan to return often to visit Centre County.

The two met when Jordan first came to Penn State in 1983 and Brueggebors covered his arrival, the CDT said.
