Assault: A security employee at Weis Market, 560 Westerly Parkway, reported a case of simple assault Wednesday around 6 p.m., according to the State College Police Department.
The employee reported he stopped an individual on suspicions of stealing lighters in the store. The individual reportedly pulled out a knife, threatened the employee and tried to flee the scene, police said.
The individual was taken to Centre County Prison on charges of simple assault and retail theft, police said.
He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Theft: A woman reported Wednesday a computer, scanner and $500 cash were taken from her car, parked on the 200 block of Shady Drive, State College police said.
The victim reported the incident occurred sometime in the early evening of Sept. 20.
Police estimate the value of the stolen items at $4,100.
