State College Borough Council discussed purchasing cameras that will be placed atop traffic lights to increase safety Friday.
A former Penn State student was found guilty of aggravated assault and simple assault Friday in connection with a domestic dispute last fall. A half-hour candlelight vigil was held at 7:30 p.m. for Vieques, which is an island off the coast of Puerto Rico. As thousands of athletes compete in Sydney, seven teams at Penn State battled to triumph in the Asian Olympics held Saturday at the East Halls picnic pavilion.

With less than two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, an eerie silence befell Ohio Stadium.
A number of streaks were finally brought to an end this weekend when the No. 3 women's volleyball team lost to No. 14 Wisconsin and Northwestern. Until the seventh minute of yesterday's 2-1 victory against Purdue, the Penn State women's soccer team had not allowed a goal in the friendly confines of Jeffrey Field since last November 14 in an NCAA tournament game against Maryland.
For the first time this season, the No. 2 Penn State men's soccer team had only one match during the weekend. But the result was still the same. Penn State men's club soccer is off and running, and with a region lead the team doesn't expect to be caught.
The Penn State women's cross country team matched its sixth place Spiked Shoe finish with another sixth-place showing at the William & Mary Invitational.
Because of disciplinary problems, the Salisbury State team was unable to make the trek to sunny and warm Happy Valley to play against the Nittany Lions. But that didn't stop the team from finding some type of team to play. My Opinion: Jon Allison Collegian Editorial

Letters to the editor For nearly 150 days now, 135,000 actors who are members of the Screen Actors' Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) have been on strike.
With their Irish pride in hand, the Dropkick Murphys will be blowing the bagpipes and lacing up the raucous punk skills that made them one of Boston's finest hometown heroes.
