rain An early shower may dampen the morning in the wake of a cold front that passed through last night. Clouds will linger throughout the day and it will be noticeably cooler than yesterday. High pressure will provide a burst of sunshine through the early part of the weekend. A storm system may deliver a few showers by the end of the weekend.

On this day in 1989, Hurricane Hugo made landfall near Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina. It was responsible for 13 deaths and an estimated 8 billion dallars in damage, making it one of the costliest disasters in U.S. history.
