Suffering from a concussion, a lacerated hip and a broken cheek bone, Penn State goalkeeper Emily Oleksiuk is out indefinitely for the Lions.
The junior All-American went down in the 64th minute of Penn State's 3-0 win over Cornell Tuesday night.
This season, Oleksiuk has started all nine games, racking up 34 saves, 4.4 shoutouts and a 0.68 goals-against average. She was named Most Outstanding Keeper at last weekend's Adidas College Classic after games with No. 1 North Carolina and No. 8 Texas A&M.
Senior goalkeeper Megan Smart will receive the starting nod for the Lions. In her three-plus years at Penn State, she's played in 10 games, recording nine saves in 191 minutes of action. This fall, Smart has come off the bench in three games, sharing in three shutouts and recording a flawless 0.00 GAA.
No. 7 Penn State opens the Big Ten slat at home this Friday with Indiana. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Jeffrey Field.
