Bus accident still under investigation

An accident on Tuesday afternoon involving a Centre Area Transit Authority Scenery Park bus and a Penn State University Fleet Services bus is still under investigation by State College Police. The accident occurred at the intersection of University Drive and Hastings Road and left at least 19 students injured, some of whom had to be cut out of the bus.

An investigation of another bus accident involving CATA on Tuesday found CATA not at fault. The accident happened on an access road behind The Bryce Jordan Center when the driver of a vehicle pulled out of a parking lane and moved into the opposite lane of traffic to pass a row of cars on the access road. The vehicle struck a CATA bus traveling southbound on the access road.

Minor damages to both vehicles were reported. Two passengers on the bus complained of minor injuries and were hospitalized and released according to Penn State Police Services.

"At this point we believe these are what we would consider to be non-preventable accidents," said Hugh Mose, CATA director.
