Letter to the Editor
Penn State fans should be more sensitive to players

I was at the football game on Saturday. I stood in the stands and watched the Penn State football team. I cheered them on when they did good things and I cringed when I heard the things being said around me. This is my senior year and I have yet to figure out what people hope to accomplish by booing our team.

There is no reason to yell mean things to the football team when things aren't going our way. Do you think it helps? Don't you think it would frustrate you if someone was yelling or booing you? Do you think you could do better? (The football team does have walk-on tryouts.)

If you were one of the ones who were booing or harassing our team, did you think about what you were saying and to whom you were saying it? These are not a bunch of high paid professional athletes (although someday they may be); these are not a bunch of kids. These are our peers. They are the guys in our classes, the people we see out, and our friends.

At the next game, before you yell something mean, stop and think for one second how you would feel if you were the one on the field.
