The Penn State Lady Lions basketball team will face several Top 10 teams again in the 2000-01 season in addition to its nationally competitive Big Ten opponents.
The Lady Lions open their season with Old Dominion at the State Farm Tip-off Classic in Hartford, Conn., on Nov. 12. ESPN2 will televise the game nationally starting at 1:30 p.m. Penn State opens its home season with Duke on Nov. 20. Highlighting the non-conference slate is a Dec. 10 match-up with perennial powerhouse Vanderbilt, which will air live nationally from the Bryce Jordan Center on ESPN2.
The Lady Lions open the Big Ten Conference slate at home on Dec. 28 with Minnesota.
Fans can get a sneak peak of this year's team with two exhibition games. On Nov. 2, the Lady Lions entertain a foreign visiting team, sponsored by Basketball Travelers. On Nov. 8, PSU hosts the Premier All-Stars.
Last season, the Lady Lions advanced to their first-ever NCAA Women's Final Four. The squad captured its third Big Ten title with a 15-1 mark. Returning to the team are starting guard Chrissy Falcone, honorable mention All-Big Ten guard Lisa Shepherd and first-team All-Big Ten forward Maren Walseth.
