Former Penn State basketball star Jarrett Stephens has signed a contract to play professionally in Italy. Stephens, who had signed a contract with the Vancouver Grizzlies, will forego any opportunities to play in the NBA this year.
Penn State's all-time leader in field goal percentage and a member of the school's top ten scoring and rebounding lists, Stephens inked a one-year deal with Canturina Servizi of the top-tier A1 Italian Professional Basketball League. The contract allows for a renewal after a successful season and gives Stephens the opportunity to opt out of the contract to test the NBA's free agent waters if he so desires.
Stephens left Penn State with 1,372 career points, 703 career rebounds and a 58.3 career field-goal percentage. He was Penn State's first-ever consensus first-team All-Big Ten selection and was an All-Big Ten Tournament and All-NIT Finals pick as well.
