Gift provides editing equipment for college

Carmen Finestra, executive producer and co-owner of Wind Dancer Production Group, has given Penn State's College of Communications $250,000 to renovate space and purchase new equipment to create the Carmen Finestra Digital Editing Laboratory, according to a Penn State press release.

The lab will replace an analog video editing suite in Carnegie Building and will have 12 state-of-the-art workstations that feature a Macintosh G4 computer with software, including Final Cut Pro, iMovie and Media Cleaner.

A 1971 Penn State graduate, Finestra is best known as supervising producer for The Cosby Show for about five years and co-creator and executive producer for Home Improvement.

He recently made the leap to the big screen, producing such films as last spring's Where the Heart Is.

Finestra will visit Penn State for the lab's dedication ceremony in late September, according to the release.
