Matchups with Kentucky and Temple highlight the Penn State men's basketball schedule for the 2000-2001 season, which was released Wednesday by Penn State Sports Information.
The Jerry Dunn-coached Nittany Lions, coming off a 19-16 season that saw them advance to the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament, will face the Wildcats in Lexington, Ky., as part of the first-ever Champs/Life Skills Festival. The game will be nationally televised at a time to be determined.
The last time the Owls and Lions faced off, two seasons ago, the Calvin Booth-led Penn State squad eked out a 65-64 upset against then-No. 10 Temple.
Penn State will kick off its season on Nov. 3 against Marathon Oil in an exhibition matchup, then against Australia 10 days later in another exhibition. The Lions' Big Ten schedule starts on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001 against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich.
