Letter to the Editor
Freshmen have four years of upcoming excitement
To Justin Goldman and the rest of the incoming freshmen and transfer students to Penn State rock on. Every year, each incoming freshman to any college is bombarded and overloaded with many new realizations once they actually "get to college." Justin, you have obviously already realized some of the ways of State College. But to speak on the optimistic side versus Nathan Halter's pessimistic side you have many more occurrences to happen in the future. I kick myself in the butt every time the good times roll because I myself only transferred here from a college in Virginia my junior year. You're headed down the path of some of the best times in your life, in each one of your lives, and it couldn't happen in a better town. Football games with full soda cups launched downward to someone below. Chanting "We are ... Penn State" with your friends; however, this time across Beaver Stadium instead of Beaver Avenue. To list more: Should I rush, should I pledge, naps in the HUB, walking to class 10 minutes after waking up, hangovers, parties, pizza at 2:30 a.m., the Diner, getting caught if you're unlucky, laughing when not getting caught, just how far can I stretch this 100 dollars from Mom and Dad, laundry what laundry? And that could just be freshman year. To end this rambling, each and every newcomer is going to have good times here at Penn State. This is a great town, so use it to its capacity. I can't promise that every time is going to be good, because there are such things as bad days. But, you'll have great friends and people around to help you out, because yes, Penn State has them, too. I'm sorry for Nathan who can't seem to find happiness here at good ol' State. So if we're all fake, Nathan, so are you. If you're so unhappy with the unrealistic surroundings, why are you still here? Well, I'm a 21-year-old graduate who decided to stay here to do her graduate work. Can't get enough of it, I guess.
