Ranging from new eateries to clothing stores to new locations for old stores, the façade of downtown State College is changing thanks to some local business owners.

Construction is slated to begin in August on the Centre Community Skate Park, which will provide a place for area skateboarders, BMX bikers and in-line skaters to ride.

The Penn State Black Caucus hosted its Fashion/Talent Showcase 2000 at 8 p.m. Friday at the HUB-Robeson Center.

This spring, the Office Of Physical Plant initiated a $3,300 plan to eliminate littering of cigarette waste on campus by placing cigarette waste receptacles in front of several buildings.

More than a week after the riot, students are speculating on what police will do next. Meanwhile, the State College Police Department is more concerned with completing its investigation before deciding its next move.

    After falling short two consecutive years at the hands of Ohio in the PNC Bank Big 33 Football Classic, the Pennsylvania squad ran away with a 31-14 victory Saturday in Hersheypark Stadium.

    Although local products and All-Americans Tony Johnson and David Kimball got most of the attention as Penn State's top incoming freshmen playing in the Big 33 Football Classic, nine other Nittany Lion recruits made their mark on the game as well.

    Conestoga Enterprises, Inc., (CEI) announced last week that it has signed a Corporate Spokesperson agreeement with Penn State football coach Joe Paterno.

    Penn State men's volleyball team members Jose Quinones (Bayamon, P.R.) and Zeljko Koljesar (Kitchener, Ontario) have been honored by Volleyball Magazine for their performances in the 2000 season.
