Penn State Director of Athletics Tim Curley has been named to the NCAA Div. I Championships Competition Cabinet. The panel deals with playing and practice seasons, football certification, nominating, awards/squad sizes and travel policies, among other things.
Curley, who has been in charge of Penn State's athletics program for the past six and a half years, will also represent the Big Ten on the Football Certification Subcommittee.
Curley, a Penn State graduate, has been a member of the Nittany Lions athletic staff since 1976, when he joined as a graduate assistant football coach. Currently, he oversees the university's 29 athletic programs, named by the Sporting News last year as the nation's best.
