Ricky Martin fan does not agree with concert review
I have one thing to say about Geoff Rushton's review of Wednesday night's Ricky Martin concert it sucked. I would like to begin by stating that Ricky Martin did not compare himself to Simon Bolivar. Martin simply stated Bolivar's dream to unite the Americas, and how he hopes his music can do just that. No ego trip. Now to begin the show: It started with a video segment that depicted a day in the life of a star, right down to running from the paparazzi. The video tied into the music video for his smash hit "Livin' la Vida Loca" in which, during the opening scene, the car that Martin is driving hits a fire hydrant. This opened up for Martin to ascent to the stage atop the hood of a dented Mustang convertible, just like in the video shown at the concert. The night was a roller coaster ride. Martin gave just enough time to get the heart rates down a bit and a period of silence for mothers that accompanied their teenage daughters to see this hip swiveling, pelvic-thrusting, bon-bon shaking, one-man show. And now to those who left before the encore what were you thinking? He could not do a show and not perform two of his big hits, one being a ballad and the other being his crossover hit that made America sit up and take notice. Martin, again, ascended from beneath the stage, barefoot this time in loose clothing as compared to his tight fitting leather pants from earlier and sitting on a plush couch he serenaded the audience with the ballad "She's All I Ever Had". He then walked off stage, as the screams became louder and more deafening. The trumpets blasted, the stage got brighter and the bongo drums started beating out a Latino beat. Then it came, the grand finale "The Cup of Life." Complete with bungee jumpers, half-naked dancers, and one sweaty Martin, the show ended in style. It was spectacular, mucho perfecto, and muy caliente. It was also well worth the $75 it cost to go as well as waking up at 4 a.m. Friday, March 3, to go out and freeze my own bon-bon off waiting for tickets to go on sale.
