Pennsylvania State Police will lead a coordinated effort to ensure safety during July's National Governor's Association annual meeting in State College.

LEMONT -- Cole Bridges, 39, of Lemont, was placed in Centre County Prison in lieu of $500,000 bail on charges of aggravated assault, harassment and stalking, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and two charges of simple assault after an incident that allegedly occurred Friday at Shady Drive, the State College Police Department said.

Rashard Casey's status as the expected starting quarterback might be in jeopardy after he was arrested for allegedly assaulting an off-duty Hoboken, N.J., police officer outside a nightclub in the early morning hours of May 14.

Hundreds of children are crying Christie Welsh's name. Welsh smiles as a cameraman zooms in for a close-up. The U.S. National Women's Soccer Team forward signs her name on posters, game programs, towels and jerseys.

Was there ever any doubt? If it was about Penn State wrestling coaching assistant Kerry McCoy's chances for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia, then probably not.

After the Blue-White Game, it appeared as if there would be no quarterback controversy in Happy Valley for the first time in three years.

The advantage of advancing to a national championship tournament, of course, is getting the chance to win that national championship.


The Penn State men's lacrosse team concluded its season ranked in the top 20. It saw three of its members named to the all-conference second team.

For the second straight season, the Penn State men's volleyball went to the Final Four with high hopes.

After the success of the Nittany Lions baseball squad, Penn State finished fourth in this season's Sears Directors' Cup, an all-sport competition among Div. I universities

After construction has been completed on Beaver Stadium, the Nittany Lions' lair is expected to open in grand fashion to kick off the 2001 football season.

The Penn State men's basketball team finished in the Top 50 in at least one survey.
