Both teams were riding a three-game streak — Penn State's was a winning streak while Illinois' was a losing streak. At the end of the game, both streaks had been snapped, but the Fighting Illini were the only ones happy about it.

Cyclones blow through National Dual
All eyes focused on one small circle at The Bryce Jordan Center yesterday. The championship match of the Cliff Keen/NWCA National Dual Championships came down to the final bout between the heavyweights from Iowa State and Minnesota, Mark Knauer and Brock Lesnar.

PSU fails to place
Penn State has only failed to place twice in 10 of the 12 annual National Duals tournaments. Not too shabby, except for the fact that the Nittany Lions two failings have been this year and last.

For the second weekend in a row, the Penn State men's gymnastics team dominated an opponent in Rec Hall. This weekend's result: A 228.375-215.450 victory against No. 8 Temple and a Penn State win in all six events.

Even though it split a pair of games during the weekend, the Penn State Div. II men's ice hockey team might have played its best hockey of the season.

The No. 10 Penn State men's volleyball team (1-2, 1-0 EIVA) opened its conference schedule with a convincing win in four games (8-15, 15-4, 15-1, 15-10) against rival Rutgers-Newark (2-1, 0-1 EIVA) Friday night at Rec Hall.

While Saturday's meet might have lacked events, the Lady Lions lacked nothing as they captured first-place finishes in 11 of 13 events in a shortened dual meet, defeating Oakland 157-81 at McCoy Natatorium.

Hoosiers dealt loss from PSU
The Penn State men's swimming and diving teams were able to add one more win to its record Saturday as it defeated Indiana, 150-93.

Groves' boys collect winning trio in Houston
There was a whole lot of celebrarting at the Houston Jamboree for the Penn State Nittany Lions men's track team on Saturday.
