Council approves road construction
The State College Borough Council at its meeting Tuesday approved a bid for the placement of storm sewer pipe on Foster Avenue. They also discussed funding for curb replacement on various other streets.
Freshmen get a LEAP start
In addition to taking classes and leaving home, learning the ropes of living at Penn State isn't easy for some freshmen during the first weeks of the semester. The Learning Edge Academic Program (LEAP), is offered to freshmen during the summer and is a collective way of learning how to live and function in college.
School of Technology adds faculty members
Joseph M. Lambert was named the associate dean of the new School of Information Sciences and Technology, according to a press release from Penn State's department of public information. Also joining the faculty of the new college are Guroray Cai, Chao-Hsien Chu, Frank Ritter, Steven Sawyer and Amanda Spink.

Ruggers fall flat at Cape Fear Tournament
Penn State traveled to Cape Fear, N.C., last weekend and entered a tournament that was a qualifier for the national championship tournament. The ruggers, who have won two 7s tournaments this summer, failed to win their third.
