Student groups discuss local environment issues Members of several environmental and student organizations spoke at a forum last night concerning State College Borough's impact on the environment in an effort to raise awareness for this weekend's Earth Day festivities. Sale to benefit Big Brother/Big Sister program Because funding from state and county governments for the Big Brother/Big Sister Program will be eliminated July 1, the program will sponsor its second annual Spring Bargain Fling tomorrow at the Ag Arena. AIDS Walk kicks off Spring Week In an effort to raise money to increase awareness and provide services for local residents affected by HIV and AIDS, the Second Annual Red Ribbon AIDS Walk will kick off Spring Week at 1 p.m. Sunday. Residents walk aid to multiple sclerosis patients To benefit the 3,700 regional residents diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that attacks the central nervous system, the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold its annual MS Walk Sunday in State College. Musical therapy growing popular in Pennsylvania Music therapy, a form of healing that has been used throughout history, is gaining popularity in Pennsylvania and may be spreading into the Centre Region. Speaker Deepak Chopra postpones appearance The appearance of Dr. Deepak Chopra, endocrinologist and best-selling author, has been postponed from its original time at 8 p.m. Monday in Schwab Auditorium until Fall Semester 1999. Free weekend Loop to prevent pollution In recognition of Earth Day, the Centre Area Transportation Authority will offer complimentary campus and town Loop bus services today, tomorrow and Sunday.
Irish spirit to bring music, dance to center From 3 to 5 p.m. tomorrow in the Paul Robeson Cultural Center, Sally and Maggie Follen of the Pittsburgh Reelers will be giving lessons in set dancing, a traditional Irish form of folk dance. Hawaiian luau held Sunday Poi and pineapple flown directly from the Hawaiian islands will be part of the cultural feast during the first Hawaiian luau at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Paul Robeson Cultural Center. Trackwomen return home for Lady Lion Relays The Lady Lions will compete in their first home meet of the outdoor season when they host the Lady Lion Relays this weekend at the Nittany Lion Track. Ruggers to face OSU to open NCAAs Penn State's unbeaten men's rugby team will put its No. 3 seeding on the line against host No. 14 seed Ohio State, the No. 14 seed, in the first round of the NCAA National Championships at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Golfers head to Columbus on upswing After a slow start, things are beginning to look up for the Penn State men's golf team. Club baseball team to battle Bucknell, again The Penn State club baseball team (10-8) will face Bucknell at 4 p.m. tomorrow at Beaver Field for a nine-inning game -- the seventh time the squads have done battle this season.
