Titanic diver to speak

With the words "I'm the king of the world!" still fresh in students' memories, the Distinguished Speaker Series will sponsor a speech by Robert Ballard at 8 p.m. today in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Ballard earned international recognition for his discovery of the R.M.S. Titanic in 1985.

In his speech "The Adventure of Exploration," Ballard will describe his efforts in the discovery and study of the Titanic, said Erin Grenoble, staff assistant for the Office of Student Activities. Ballard will complement his speech with slides of the famous shipwreck, she added.

"It's somebody who was able to achieve the dream of finding the Titanic," Travis Freehauf (senior-material science and engineering) said.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required and available at the Eisenhower Auditorium ticket box office.
