Men connected with riot begin community service

The 16 men sentenced to community service in connection with the July 12 riot will begin serving State College Borough today.

They ill be fulfilling their sentences at various locations in the community by cleaning trash receptacles, streets, sidewalks and traffic islands, according to a press release from the borough.

Also, they eventually will be responsible for replacing a lamppost destroyed in the riot, according to the release.

The men will be identifiable by their orange vests with large black numbers and will fulfill their 100 hours of service between today and Sept. 3.
