Icers collect truckloads of All-American honors

The Penn State men's hockey team received numerous American Collegiate Hockey Association awards, as recently announced by the ACHA Awards Committee.

Senior defenseman Jason Zivkovic and sophomore forward Alon Eizenman were both named first-team ACHA Div. I All-Americans. Zivkovic also was named to the ACHA Academic All-American team and was chosen as one of three finalists for the Bob Johnson Award, which is awarded to the ACHA Div. I player who best displays hockey ability, scholarship, leadership, enthusiasm and service.

Also honored were senior goalie John Sixt (third team), senior forwards C.J. Patrick and Ed Bursich (honorable mention) and senior defenseman Don Coyne (honorable mention). In addition, Coyne, Patrick, senior forward Joe Bassett and senior goalie Anthony Annexy all joined Zivkovic as ACHA Academic All-Americans. With five academic All-Americans, the Icers were tops among ACHA Div. I teams.

The Icers finished the 1998-99 campaign with a 26-4-3 mark. They were national runners-up, having fell 6-4 to Iowa State Mar. 6 in the ACHA National Tournament Championship Game.
