PSU district topic of meeting
The Centre Regional Planning Commission will hold a meeting at noon today at the Ferguson Township Municipal Building to discuss the model ordinance and proposed district plan that will implement the University Planned District, according to the commission's meeting agenda. College, Ferguson and Patton townships, as well as State College Borough, have received a model ordinance that will make the zoning code the same for Penn State's property holdings. The district is intended to set up a standard code for zoning all of Penn State's land holdings surrounding the central campus area. The district contains parts of all four municipalities. A new plan is necessary because Penn State's previous agreement with the Centre Region Council of Governments expired Dec. 31, 1998. The commission will review and discuss the proposed district, and prepare comments for the municipalities' review processes. The four will review the district plan sometime in March or early April and may advertise for a public hearing by the end of April, according to the agenda.
