Woodward to speak at Erie
As part of the Distinguished Speaker Series at Penn State Erie, Bob Woodward, assistant managing editor of The Washington Post, will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. today in the Reed Union Building. The presentation, titled "Far Left, Far Right: The Future of Liberalism and Conservatism," is free to anyone interested in attending. As a young reporter for The Post, Woodward helped uncover the Watergate scandal, which led to the resignation of former President Richard Nixon. Woodward has written seven national best-selling books. They include All the President's Men and The Final Days. His books, some written in collaboration with fellow Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein, give readers an in-depth look behind the scenes during the Watergate scandal. Woodward's speech will focus on liberalism and conservatism. He will also be open to other questions, said Christopher Rizzo, director of student activities at Erie. Before the speech, a small group of students from various majors will gather to speak with Woodward. "As part of our speaker series, we like to emphasize the importance of student contact with our speakers," Rizzo said. There also will be a dinner at which students will be able to mingle and talk with the author and journalist. -- by Kara McConnell
