Book sale raises more than $97,000
Once upon a time, or shall we say from Jan. 30 to Feb. 3 — a used book sale was held in an enchanted place called the Agricultural Arena. And yes, the State College branch of the American Association of University Women’s 38th annual book sale did have a happy ending. It raised more than $97,000 by selling more than 200,000 used books, said Louise Tukey, co-chair of the sale. The proceeds benefit AAUW's scholarships for women and local educational projects, Tukey said. The AAUW thanked the State College businesses, donors and customers who supported the book sale. The organization is asking for donations of used books, sheet music, maps, compact discs and tapes for next year's sale. These donations can be dropped off at the AAUW warehouse, 118 N. Sparks St.
