Bryce Jordan Center plays host to 'former infatuation junkie' and Garbage this weekend
By JON FASSNACHT
Sunday night, students have a chance to listen to trash and a woman with a hand in her pocket. It's kind of ironic -- don't 'cha think? Alanis Morissette and Garbage will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday in The Bryce Jordan Center. The show originally was scheduled for this past Tuesday and tickets for the original date will be honored. Those without tickets can purchase them at the center, Eisenhower Auditorium, selected Uni-Mart ticket outlets or by calling 865-5555 locally, or toll-free at 1-800-863-3336. Tickets are $35.00 and $28.50. The combination of both performers should make for a strong show. "Both of the acts are very excited to come here," said Bernie Punt, director of public relations at the Center. "A lot of country acts started double-billing a few years ago and had great success, so it quickly spread to other musical genres." Morissette's Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, was released a few months ago and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard pop charts, silencing any doubters who thought she was a fluke. Although Morissette achieved great commercial success, Garbage's most recent release, Version 2.0, wasn't a powerhouse in the market but it was a critics' favorite, receiving a Grammy nomination for album of the year. Lead singer of Garbage, Shirley Manson also has a style very similar to Morissette's. The combination of the million-selling acts has appealed to some students. "I usually prefer smaller venues for concerts," Jessica Hartnett (sophomore-psychology) said. "But I think its going to be a good show, especially with Garbage opening up."
