Police Log

  • Theft: Sixty-five pairs of denim shorts were reported stolen Monday afternoon from Sears Roebuck and Co. in the Nittany Mall, the State College Police Department said.

    Security cameras revealed two white men concealed the shorts in two large shopping bags. They then fled the mall with the stolen merchandise in their car. Police have the vehicle's identification number, which has been traced to an Altoona residence.

    The value is estimated to be $2,080.

  • Theft: Three digital parking meters were reported stolen yesterday morning from the 300 block of East Beaver Avenue, State College police said.

    Two white men were seen tampering with the meters at 3:25 a.m. Police are still searching for the suspects.

    The loss is estimated at $900.

  • Theft: A Penn State staff member reported Monday morning someone stole a videocassette recorder between Nov. 18 and Feb. 2 from the Arts Building, Penn State Police Services said. The value is estimated to be $280.

  • Theft: A construction worker at the Paterno Library reported Monday afternoon someone stole a piece of scaffolding from the site between Feb. 3 4, Penn State police said.

    The value is estimated to be $275.

State College police are located at 243 S. Allen St. in the Municipal Building.

University police are located in the Eisenhower Parking Garage on campus.
