Musser to compete in NWCA All-Star Dual

There will be no rest for weary wrestler Clint Musser.

After dominating Eric Kerkhof 12-1 yesterday in the Nittany Lions' 11 a.m. dual meet against Purdue in Rec Hall, Musser and Penn State coach Troy Sunderland left Rec Hall for the airport for their 4:15 flight yesterday afternoon.

Musser (22-2) has a date with destiny -- a match-up against rival Casey Cunningham of Central Michigan in the NWCA All-Star Dual. The match takes place at 8 p.m. tonight in Oklahoma State's Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Cunningham, the No. 2 wrestler in the nation at 157 pounds, decisioned No. 3 Musser 5-3 in the finals of the Penn State Open en route to an individual championship.

"Wrestling Cunningham is going to be great because he's one of the guys that I'll have to beat in March (at the NCAA Tournament)," Musser said. "I'll get a chance to get him back for the Penn State Open."

Musser will be the first Lion to compete in the tournament since 1995, when then-heavyweight and now coaching assistant Kerry McCoy participated.
