Billman ordered to abide by conditions of petition filed against him

Penn State wrestler Jamarr Billman did not object yesterday in a Centre County Court of Common Pleas hearing to a petition for protection from abuse against him.

The petition was filed against the All-American wrestler by a 19-year-old female Penn State student on Jan. 20.

Judge David E. Grine ordered Billman, 20, to abide by the conditions of the petition. The order forbids Billman from making any contact with or entering the petitioner's residence for one year.

If Billman were to violate the terms of the order, he could face imprisonment for up to six months and/or a fine of up to $1,000.

The petitioner declined to elaborate on her petition or the proceedings. "I haven't been appreciating what you've been writing, so I have no comment," she said.

Billman was not available for comment last night. Penn State wrestling coach Troy Sunderland, who attended the court proceeding with Assistant Athletic Director Bob Krimmel, refused to comment on the specifics of the hearing.

"I think we've released everything we want to release," Sunderland said.
