PSU housing fair to be held

There won't be bingo or a money wheel, but students can still try their luck at finding a place to live at Penn State's housing fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow in the HUB Ballroom.

Students, especially those transferring to University Park in the fall, will have an opportunity to explore different living options both on and off campus.

More than 40 realtors and landlords will be represented at the fair, and on-campus representatives will be giving tours of the dorms, said Andrea Prinzi, Undergraduate Student Government town affairs director. The Centre Area Transportation Authority also will to talk to students about bus routes, she added.

The realtors are not permitted to have students sign leases or fill out applications at the fair.

They will simply hand out information.

Students who attend the housing fair also will have a chance to win prizes from local merchants, Prinzi said.

Normally, the housing fair is held for two days, but due to HUB construction, this year's fair has been cut down to one day, said Jean Welling, staff assistant for the Office of Greek and Community Life.

Those involved with the fair are expecting about 6,000 total students to attend.

Organizers expect about half of the participants to be from Commonwealth Campuses, Prinzi said.
