In a banquet held Saturday, Jan. 23, Penn State midfielder Kelly Convey was honored as an NCAA Div. I first-team All-American. The event, held in Convey's hometown of Philadelphia, was hosted by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Convey is the first player in the five-year history of Penn State women's soccer to receive All-America honors.
In addition to her All-American accolades, Convey also earned First-Team Mid-Atlantic Region and First-Team All-Big Ten Conference honors.
"It's great being honored like this," Convey said.
The junior finished third on the Lady Lions in scoring with seven goals, nine assists, and 23 points, while helping Penn State earn both the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles. Convey is No. 3 in Penn State history in all major career scoring categories -- shots (194), goals (18), game-winning goals (6), assists (21), and points (57).
"Kelly's was a major part of our team all season," coach Patrick Farmer said.
"She's one of the quickest players on the field."
