Spring Rush activities to begin
Fraternities and sororities started spring rush procedures Monday, beginning with an orientation week for men and registration for women. Jami Totten, Panhellenic Council president, said registration for rush will be held this week from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 215 HUB. Information sessions for prospective members with questions about rush will be held 6 p.m. today in Fenske Lab and 6 p.m. Thursday in Findlay Commons, Totten said. A rush mixer will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 18 in the HUB Ballroom. "This is a good opportunity for women who are rushing to meet members from all of the 21 Panhellenic sororities," Totten said. Orientation also began this week for men wishing to join a fraternity. Next week marks the fraternities' dry week, when all social functions at fraternities will be substance-free. Fraternity open houses are scheduled during this week. Because spring rush is a shorter process than fall, Totten said, new member numbers usually decrease -- each sorority sends bids to only one or two women. -- by Carrie Dzwil
