COLLEGE TOWNSHIP -- Tom Smyth eyed Mount Nittany from a crouch as he laced his hiking boots Saturday. Clenching a bag, he started up a snakelike trail toward the sun-drenched, 2,200-foot crest -- like he has done habitually since the 1950s -- surveying the grounds for rubbish.

Walk raises $37,000 for The AIDS Project
Despite the wind, rain and cool temperatures, many students and members of the community showed their support by walking for AIDS yesterday.

Environmental activist speaks at Earth Day '98
Cracking jokes and quoting environmental statistics, lifetime environmental activist David Brower gave a broad-based speech on global preservation yesterday, drawing a mixed response from a rain-soaked crowd of about 300 on the HUB lawn.
