Keeping In Touch With USG

USG works hard for student body

USG SUCKS . . . or so they say. It's time you knew the truth, Penn State. HUB Late Night events, multicultural festivals and forums, lobbying trips, philanthropies, Know Your Rights campaigns, World Wide Web pages, buses home for breaks, Safety Awareness Week, legal services and housing fairs were all brought to you by the Undergraduate Student Government.

USG represents the undergraduate student body at the University Park campus. USG can be reached by calling 863-1USG, via E-mail at usg@psu.edu, through its World Wide Web site at http://www.clubs.psu.edu/usg or by stopping by 203 HUB.

We've come a long way, baby. Remember that Seventeen magazine promotion in the HUB Fishbowl? You know, the one with all the FREE STUFF? It was the effort of the USG Programming Department. How about that pool party last August? The turnout was record breaking, and we had a BLAST.

How about the day two kegs full of root beer were available in front of the Willard Building in an effort to promote students' alcohol rights? It was a product of USG Senate.

And we'll never forget the campaign for a fall break. It took thousands of signatures and loads of research by USG Academic Assembly.

Then there was the time that the students' voice was audibly represented when the State College Borough Council proposed a new zoning ordinance. USG Town Affairs was there to respond. Did you catch a bus in front of the HUB or at East Halls for any of the breaks? The USG Business Department was responsible for those buses. Here's one you may not remember. There were two events (one in Michigan and one in Indiana) at which the University was excellently represented. The USG Big Ten Affairs Department represented us.

Remember Apathy Week last semester? Our senate worked hard at putting together this week full of Continental Cola, mass E-mails to the University President and voter registration efforts.

"We know that it has been said that our work this year has been minimal."

Did you attend Las Vegas Night on March 20? Put on by our Programming Department, this event was a tremendous effort filled with food, prizes and MONEY, MONEY, MONEY.

We've heard the rumors. We know that it has been said that our work this year has been minimal.

We understand that it is hard to believe something you can't see. That is why we invite you . . . WE BEG YOU . . . to come visit us in 203A HUB and find out for yourself what the REAL truth is. We've had a busy year, and we are far from being finished.
