Co-owner of recreation center dies

Arthur J. DeFluri, president and co-owner of Northland Recreation Centre, 1521 Martin St., died Monday afternoon of a heart attack, said Michael Milburn, general manager of the recreation complex.
"I don't think there's a person in State College who (didn't) know him."

DeFluri, who was active with many charities, had previously owned Armenara Lanes, 127 Sowers St., for 27 years, until Bodyworks Health and Fitness Center moved into the site, Milburn said.

Milburn added that DeFluri had been co-owner of Northland Recreation Centre in Ferguson Township, which includes a bowling alley, hotel and the Last Cowboy Restaurant and Lounge, since it was built in 1990.

DeFluri is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and eight grandchildren, Milburn said. A private memorial service will be held later this week, he added.
