HERNDON -- To honor the memory of 11 young people who died in a cabin fire March 22, the road to Line Mountain High School has been lined with gold and blue ribbons, the high school's colors.

Write-in ticket loses campaign privileges
The write-in ticket for Undergraduate Student Government president and vice president, Kornelius P. Spankum and Kendra Ciesla (junior-advertising), will not be able to participate in tonight's debate or appear in Wednesday's voter guide published in The Daily Collegian.

Activity fee system rejected by CCSG
The Council of Commonwealth Student Governments has declined to support a recommendation for the implementation of a two-tier system of the student activity fee at all campuses.

With a three-game losing streak on its back, the Penn State women's lacrosse team was in a freefall before yesterday's matchup with No. 15 Old Dominion.

It was a career night for Gyasi Cline-Heard. The 6-foot-7 freshman power forward set career highs in points (14), minutes (24) and field goals attempted (8). He also pulled down five rebounds.

Lady Lion softball coach Robin Petrini couldn't help but be satisfied her team's performance this weekend. Penn State's two wins against Wisconsin this weekend have already equaled Penn State's conference total from last year.

Princeton (10-7) squashed Penn State (14-14) 3-0 on Friday but the Lions came back Saturday night with a 3-0 victory of their own against Rutgers-Newark (15-9). Both opponents were division rivals.

Clint Musser went through the motions. He listened to the announcer call his name. He waved to the crowd. He descended from the awards platform and shook hands with the other seven All-Americans.

Penn State junior epee fencer Tom Peng didn't have much time to dream last Saturday night. He was so anxious to compete, he only got an hour of sleep. He made up for the lost time last Sunday afternoon.

The Penn State men's rugby team traveled to Pittsburgh Saturday with two goals in mind -- getting younger players some experience and beating Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Lion Swimmen finish season with NCAAs
The Penn State swimming and diving team wrapped up its season Saturday at the NCAA Championships at Auburn, Ga.

Netwomen fall to Gophers, Hawkeyes
Penn State women's tennis coach Sue Whiteside was pleased with her team's doubles play. She liked the Lady Lions' ability to bounce back after a loss. She said several of her players are making definite breakthroughs in their play.

Booters land new recruits
Sean, Derek, Kevin, Whitney, Ryan, Chris and another Ryan. They may not have cool names like Diego, Alexi or Pelé, but they are still excellent soccer players. And the Penn State men's soccer team is betting its future on them.
