Activity fee system rejected by CCSG
The Council of Commonwealth Student Governments has declined to
support a recommendation for the implementation of a two-tier
system of the student activity fee at all campuses.
The recommendation was put forth at CCSG's March meeting by Vice
President for Student Affairs William Asbury. Asbury recommended a two-tier system that allows individual campuses to choose between two different fee amounts. |

However, CCSG has decided to support a plan in which each campus
is able to levy a fee appropriate to their individual needs.
According to CCSG, each Commonwealth Campus has unique needs --
some campuses find the money generated from the student activity
fee sufficient for the programs their campus wants while other
campuses find that they have a surplus of funds at the end of
the academic year.
Other campuses, such as the Abington College, support a fee raise
above inflationary costs.
The Student Activity Fee Board will meet April 10 to discuss increasing
the fee.
