Car accident injures 3
COLLEGE TOWNSHIP -- Three people were injured in a four-car accident
on the 1000 block of East College Avenue Wednesday night, the
State College Police Department said.
State College resident Nevin Gensimore told State College police
he was driving a brown Porsche eastbound in the right lane on
College Avenue traveling 65 miles per hour. He changed lanes to
avoid hitting another car in the left lane, traveled through the
turning lane and ended up in the lane of oncoming traffic, State
College police said.
Gensimore's car then hit three other cars before coming to rest
in the right lane of westbound East College Avenue, State College
police said.
Gensimore and another driver were treated at Centre Community
Hospital for minor injuries and released, State College police
said. After Alpha Fire Company members freed driver Michael Eldred,
a Howard resident, from his car, Alpha Community Ambulance Service
transported him to Centre Community Hospital.
He was admitted to the intensive care unit for head injuries,
State College police said.
Eldred was still in ICU and reported to be in serious condition
yesterday, said Cay Griel, clinical coordinator at Centre Community
Hospital.
All those injured in the accident suffered head injuries and had
difficulty remembering the details of the accident, State College
police said.
The fourth driver did not receive medical attention, State College
police said.
Sgt. John Wilson of State College police said the police are still
investigating the accident and it was unknown whether alcohol
was involved.
