University benefactor dies
Mary Jean Smeal, one of the benefactors of The Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal College of Business Administration, died March 12 at her home in Rumson, N.J. She was 77.The college was named in honor of Smeal and her husband in 1989 after they gave the University a $10 million gift, according to a news release.

Memorial services for Mary Jean Smeal were held yesterday in Red
Bank, N.J.
The Smeal family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Smeal's memory to The Pennsylvania State University, Office of University Development, 1 Old Main, University Park, Pa., or to the American Cancer Society.
