Lisicky garners Academic All-District recognition
Nittany Lion guard Pete Lisicky has been named to the GTE/CoSIDA
Academic All-District First Team for the third consecutive year.
Lisicky's name will now appear on the national ballot for Academic
All-American selections. Last year, Lisicky was named a second
team Academic All-American.
Lisicky currently holds a 3.26 grade point average in Finance
and is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten pick.
Bump is Co-National Player of the Week
Lion RHP Nate Bump was named a Louisville Slugger Co-National
Player of the Week. He shares the honor with Memphis outfield-er/pitcher
Craig House. The selections were made by the staff of Collegiate
Baseball.
Bump pitched 8.2 scoreless innings in Saturday's victory at Winthrop.
He struck out a career-high 14 batters, gave up only three hits
and walked one.
Golfers place 17th at Collegiate Championship
The Nittany Lion men's golf team finished in 17th place at the
Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Champion-ship at Queen's Harbour Yacht
and Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Lions shot a 323 on the final day of the three-day event to
run the final score to 926. South Carolina led the tournament
and came away with a 15-stroke victory at 849. Augusta State finished
second with 864 and Florida took third wih 866.
Lion sophomre Matt Abbott led Penn State in 60th place followed
by Byron Clift. Clift posted Penn State's best final day score
of 76 to finish with a 229.
Penn State resumes District II play March 9-10.
