Man arraigned on charges of stalking, harassment
HARRIS TOWNSHIP -- Boalsburg resident Shane Dawson, 35, was arrested
Friday morning following a domestic dispute between Dawson and
his wife, according to a news release from the State College Police
Department.
State College police officers responded after the victim was stopped
for speeding as she was escaping the scene, according to the release.
Dawson was arraigned Friday by District Justice Bradley Lunsford
on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terrorist threats,
recklessly endangering another person, harassment and stalking,
according to the release.
The argument allegedly started after Dawson played tapes of the
victim's telephone conversation about another man and her intentions
to divorce Dawson, according to court documents.
Dawson allegedly threatened to kill the victim and himself, according
to the documents. The victim was treated and released from Centre
Community Hospital for head and side injuries, according to the
documents.
In November, Dawson held the woman, who was then his fiancee,
hostage for 7 hours, raped her, beat her and held her at gunpoint,
State College police said. The woman filed for a temporary protection
from abuse order against Dawson last year, but requested that
the court dismiss the request in December.
Bail was set at $600,000 and Dawson is currently in Centre County
Prison, according to the release.
Dawson's preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday, according to
Lunsford's office.
