By PATRICIA TISAK

The dance marathon committee captains and the morale committee
danced last night away.
The 1998 Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon morale
committee captains taught the line dance to Thon committee captains
and morale committee members in the HUB Ballroom.
"What we're doing tonight is very exciting," said Lori
Schwartz, overall morale chairwoman.

The morale committee will unveil the 1998 line dance to the dancers
tomorrow night, said Schwartz (senior-political science).
"We have a lot of Penn State pride," Schwartz said about
the line dance lyrics. "We discuss current events. We name
a couple of athletes. We smile a lot."
From the stage, Meghan Marshall (senior-advertising/public relations),
a captain of the morale committee, taught the line dance to the
Thon committee captains and the morale committee.
Other morale committee captains were dispersed throughout the
room in order to help others learn the moves.
"I think they're learning it really well," said morale
committee captain Greg Litcofsky. "Their juices are flowing.
It's doing what we want it to do. In the fortieth hour when the
dancers need a lift, the line dance will get them going."
Thon committee captains and the morale committee shouted and applauded
every time they learned a segment of the line dance.
"I think it's incredible," said Stephanie Fernandez
(senior-management science and information systems), a member
of the morale committee.

The line dance is a good way to get Thon dancers motivated, morale
committee member Amy Crozier said.
"It lifts your spirits and that's what morale is all about,"
Crozier (senior-accounting) said.
Overall Dance Marathon chairman Todd Waltman said the morale committee
did a good job creating the line dance.
"It's very interactive," said Waltman (senior-health
policy administration). "It seems that all the committee
members are very excited and ready for the weekend."
Schwartz said the 1998 line dance movements and lyrics will not
be revealed to the public until tomorrow.
"Come to Thon if you want to find out what it's all about,"
she said.
