MTV scouts student talent for spring break specials
Sunny skies and fun-filled beaches could be on the horizon for
Rocco Impreveduto.
When Impreveduto (junior-telecommunications) leaves for spring
break, he may be on an MTV show such as "The Grind."
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. yesterday, MTV scouted in 323 HUB for students
to appear on shows that will air on-location during spring break.
Impreveduto said he hopes to make the show because he would like
to be on TV.
"I love the camera and I'd love to be on TV with everyone
watching me," he said.
MTV is touring universities to find energetic talent for shows
to be filmed during spring break, according to a flier.
"It's spring break so you should be going somewhere anyway,"
said Rob Crawford, casting coordinator for MTV. "While you
are partying for a week, you get to be on MTV on top of it."
Different personalities are considered for each individual show,
Crawford said.
"Obviously we're looking for different criteria for the different
shows," he said. "However, in general, we are looking
for dynamic people who are fun to watch."
In addition to Penn State, Crawford said MTV will be visiting
other colleges such as Duke University, Florida State University
and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
"The reason why we chose to come to Penn State is because
it's a big college tour and a lot of people from here are going
away for spring break," he said.
