Wal-Mart evacuated
An unknown irritant with the characteristics of pepper spray entered the Wal-Mart, 1665 N. Atherton St., ventilation system causing employees to evacuate the store last night, said officer Chris Federinko of Patton Township Police Department.
"I don't know if we'll ever be able to determine what is was," Federinko said.
Employees started evacuating the store when they and customers complained of difficulty breathing and coughing, Federinko said.
"There is an investigation going on," Federinko said. "We have some information on individuals, but we don't know."
Federinko said he was unsure if anyone was taken to Centre Community Hospital but at least one person needed medical attention.
