Irving's rolls bagels onto College Avenue
Irving's Bagels opened new location on College Avenue to rave reviews this weekend.

Ethan Kasales has two words to describe Irving's Bagels -- "really
good."
The 3-year-old enjoyed a blueberry bagel with cream cheese yesterday
morning at the newest location of Irving's Bagels, 110 E. College
Ave., which opened Saturday.
In addition to bagel sandwiches, Irving's offers fresh-squeezed
juices and smoothies, fruit and homemade breads, a salad bar and
an espresso station.

The layout includes seven areas that allow customers to meander
from station to station. Hardwood floors, high ceilings, a fireplace
and seating areas on two floors add to the decor. The scent of
fresh paint on the walls, which are colored shades of white, orange
and black, still lingers in the air.
"I think it is (designed) much better because you have seven
different stations, which diffuses the people. Between the owners,
architects and builders, they did a wonderful job," said
Andrew Bergstein, University marketing instructor and Kasales'
father. "I came yesterday and I was so excited, we came back
today."
Bergstein said he thinks the location is excellent for students
and teachers alike.
"I can't wait to stop down from Willard between classes,"
Bergstein said. "I'm sure I won't be the only one."

Open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, the new Irving's Bagels is
ready to serve its customers, manager Shanon Hendricks said.
"I could see a lot of people hiding out down here and doing
homework," said Philip D'Ambrosio (senior-physics). "I'll
probably be here daily."
Amy Dytko (sophomore-elementary education), who trained at the
original Irving's Bagels location, 131 W. Beaver Ave., said customers
seem impressed with the size and style of the new site.
"People are coming in, and they are excited," Hendricks
agreed. "It's something they didn't expect from State College."
The restaurant -- formerly the home of 110 Connection, a clothing
store -- has a cafeteria concept different from anything else
in State College, she added.
